What happens when you combine a 90 Miata with a 99 Vette and an 04 Cobra? You get Nadine the world's fastest Milk Carton!
Though I had been collecting parts for the swap for nearly three years, actual final construction took place in less than 40 days and then the body was straightened and painted in just eight more!
Built in my garage on a shoestring budget, this car has competed in the Fireball Run Adventurally 2012. The purpose of building it was to have a v-8 Miata with handling and power that could be used to bring attention to the plight of missing children right here in the USA.
The car gets 23+mpg and has a 0-60 time of 4.80 seconds. Unofficial 1/4 mile time with a full load of fuel/all the luggage it would carry/ and 2 fat guys in the seats was 13.4 @109. Not bad for a "Chick Car".
The car features a 99 Corvette LS-1 with a custom cold air intake, Hooker Block Hugger headers, Painless wireing harness, and a Dr Performance tune. The trans is a T-56 with a B&M shifter cut down 3.5" The rear diff is a 3.73 Trac-Lock 8.8 from an 04 Mustang Cobra with Driveshaft Shop custom CV axles. Wilwood 4 piston calipers and 2 piece disc brakes hual it down to reasonable speeds when needed. The Exhaust is a custom bent one-off featuring 2.5" pipe from the collectors to the Maganaflow 3" in/out Muffler and dual tips. Cooling is well under control with a 3.5" thick Griffin TP radiator and stock electric fans.
For safety, the entire Boss Frog catalog has been thrown at the car. The subframe kits, door bars, roll bar, Frog Arms, even the amplifier and sub woofer come from Ric and Todd's shop!
With more than 6,000 miles on the car since it first fired last April, there has not been a single componant failure other than a rad hose popping loose due to a bad clamp. Fun, fast, reliable American Muscle in an unsuspecting chassis... I would call that a HP Chevy!
