1966 El Camino converted to a Sedan delivery. This is a extremely unique car that has been professionally built with no corners cut or inferior parts used. Frame and suspension components were stripped and powder coated, then completely rebuilt with all new poly graphite bushings, 2in Heidts drop spindles, new ball joints, springs, tie rod ends end links, etc. The 1 1/4in front and 1 1/8in rear sway bars were also added from Addco. The tubular rear control arms were also added at this time. The car has manual 4-wheel disc brakes, 17x7 Torque Thrust wheels up front, and 18x10s in the rear. The 12 bolt rear end housing was powder coated and rebuilt with new 3:08 gears, bearings, and seals. The car is powered by a rebuilt 283 that transfers its 25 mpg highway economy through a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission to the already mentioned 12 bolt. Exhaust exits through a set of HPC coated headers and 60 series Flow master mufflers. The fuel system consists of a new powder coated fuel tank and new lines to the mechanical fuel pump. Ignition is all Mallory. The 2 1/2in channeled, bare metal body was added, everything was fitted, the handles shaved, and then colored up in a bright green and black. The whole underside of the body was rhino lined for noise suppression and durability so the car could be driven in any weather. The core support and inner fenders were powder coated and installed, the firewall smoothed, and the air conditioning added. A new Walker 3 row, dimpled tube radiator was also installed at this time. Next the rest of the exterior pieces were added. These include a 2in steel cowl induction hood (functional with the custom ram-air housing) 1967 fenders, grille, bumpers, Hella headlights, stainless wheel opening moldings and exterior stainless trim. All of the fasteners used were replaced with stainless, ARP, or grade 8 items. On the inside, the dash was smoothed, a custom center console was grafted, a tilt column, custom Grant steering wheel, cruise control, intermittent wipers, power windows including the rear end window, remote entry, and an overhead Alpine c-d player were installed. The dash houses stock SS panel with stock SS gauges. The body was wired with a new American Wire kit. The interior was installed by George Frank, who has installed many national show car winning interiors. The door panels were built to handle the 6 1/2in speakers as well as the custom rear enclosures for the 6 1/2in speakers and 10in subs. The 99 Firebird seats w/ armrests were covered with a nice soft leather also used as accent throughout the whole interior. More photos can be seen at hotbodzandcustomrods.com in the gallery
