Born and raised in California, this original L48 has been upgraded with a LS5 from a 72 Corvette. The iron oval ports have been refitted with 2.19/1.88 stainless Manley valves and hardened seats. Operating them is a Crane solid lifter cam with a lift of .567/.590 and duration @.05 of 248/258. The block has been fitted with .030 over KB 10.5/1 hypereutectic pistons. Scat sportsman rods connect them to a 5140 steel crank. On top sits a port matched Edelbrock Performer 2-O manifold and a 850 Performer Q-jet carb. Ignition is handled by a MSD pro billet distributor and 6AL ignition. Exhaust leaves via Sanderson headers and a 2.5" system running through Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. The driveline includes a Muncie M20 and a 12 bolt rear fitted with an Eaton LSD and 3.31 gear. All rolling on 15" Torque thrust D's and BFG radial T/A's.
